Winter Weather Safety Tips
During morning and evenings due to fog the visibility on roads decreases. The fog accumulates near lakes, rivers, low lying areas and where more trees or plantation exists. Try to avoid the journey, if not possible please drive with care.
Please follow these to avoid such accidents and save lives.
- Make yourself visible to others (i.e. When in Vehicle on all lights, when as a
pedestrian wear reflective jacket).
- Drive slow depending on the visibility i.e. to drive 50 K.M.P.H. at least you can
able to see 70 mts. away, so that in emergency you can stop the vehicle safely.
- Allow More Distance Between Vehicles.
- Use caution at all times, by clearing the fog on windscreen (Use defroster in your
vehicle).
- Use fog lights or driving lights (if equipped).
- Use your low beams (if the vehicle does not have fog lights or driving lights).
- Pull over to the side of the road if you have no visibility (i.e. Don't stop on the road side, stop in a safe place and try to make visible to other road users).
- Use the left edge of the road as a guide.
- General tendency of the driver during the fog is driving on the middle of the
road. Please don't drive other vehicles may come in opposite direction.
- Do not use full beam, because the fog reflects the light back, reducing visibility
even further.
- Use headlights in day time also for both Four wheeler and two wheeler, so
that others can see you.
- Always check your lights functioning, before your journey.
- When driving in fog, it’s a good idea to follow the lines on the road with your
eyes. This is the best way to ensure you stay in your lane and if lines are not
visible, please pull your vehicle left side in a safe place and stop, don't stop on
the road side, other vehicle come and hit you.
